Steve is the co-founder of BK Public Affairs and has more than a decade of experience managing public affairs, public relations and issue advocacy campaigns.  He has worked with a variety of Fortune 500 businesses and nationally recognized organizations such as Allstate Insurance and Indemnity Company, Aramark , Boeing, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, Honeywell, Pfizer, the  Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), the US Chamber of Commerce and the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) among others.

Steve is a strategic communications and issue advocacy specialist adept at building partnerships among non-profit, civic, healthcare and business organizations. He has strong state government and healthcare industry relationships in Kentucky and across the region and is a veteran of numerous national and state advocacy campaigns for regulated industry clients. Steve is skilled at handling complex and complicated issues for clients.

Before founding B|K Public Affairs, Steve helped Peritus Public Relations grow from a small firm with one office in Kentucky to a regional presence with offices in five states.  His work for Peritus included managing major national issue campaigns and statewide initiatives in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.  Working with PR-giant Hill & Knowlton in Florida’s capitol city, he consulted on some of the state’s highest-profile issues including property insurance, nuclear power, affordable housing and real estate development. He advised one of the nation’s largest insurers after hurricanes ravaged the southeast from 2003 to 2005, coordinated a statewide campaign to build support for nuclear power, and provided crisis communications counsel to a major New Orleans university after Hurricane Katrina. In the complex arena of real estate development, Steve helped developers around the country to successfully navigate the rigorous path from planning to ground breaking to grand opening.

Steve has also worked extensively in consumer and tourism marketing, achieving significant earned media coverage for clients like Visit Florida, Travel Michigan, the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, the Southern & Eastern Kentucky Tourism Development Association and the Convention & Visitors Bureaus in Memphis, Nashville and San Antonio.
